Who uses Photobiomodulation

Photobiomodulation is used across a broad spectrum of professions just like PEMF therapy is. There are many forms of light therapy; UV used in dental practices and skin specialist clinics for example but we will concentrate on the red and infrared wavelengths of light for improving cell function.  Lasers have been used extensively in mainstream hospitals for decades but usually the high powered lasers used in surgical procedures.

Low Level or  'cold' laser therapy is a more recent phenomenon but has also been used for some years in professions such as those listed below which you will find much the same as PEMF therapy with just a few differences.

  • Doctors practices
  • Osteopaths
  • Chiropractors
  • Physio therapists
  • Sports injury specialist
  • Sports team
  • beautician therapists
  • Back pain clinics
  • Massage therapists
  • Dentists
  • Hose Racing stables
  • Veterinarians

Now that LED devices are proving to be of use, many home users are using photobiomodulation in the comfort of their own homes and for a much better price than the older lasers that have been around longer.

Some professional practitioners are also using LED light therapy for pain and inflammation reduction. The lower price and improvements in safety of LED devices mean that clients can often hire or borrow a device in between sessions of PEMF therapy or laser therapy. This can make treatment for an issue quicker and more cost effective.

The important take home message for Light and Laser devices and even for PEMF therapy devices is:

  • they work
  • they are safe
  • they are easily available
